The calorie content of the dishes will also be posted on the menu, according to plans announced Saturday.
“ADPHC is committed to protecting the safety and well-being of every member of the Abu Dhabi community, and nutrition undoubtedly plays a key role in promoting overall health and has a profound impact on reducing the prevalence and burden of lifestyle diseases,” said Matar Al Nuaimi, Director of Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre.
“As such, the launch of the Sehhi program is in line with our vision for a healthy, safe society by consolidating the efforts of various stakeholders in the ecosystem, ensuring access to healthy food and promoting more informed and educated dietary choices.”

How the health drive will work
A comprehensive classification process has been established to identify foods that fall under the Sehhi program, with criteria taking into account calorie count, total fat, saturated and trans fat, sugar, salt, and fiber content.
Outlets will also be able to enter detailed information about their food products into a digital platform that will review and analyze the nutritional value of their dishes to determine Sehhi-compliant dishes.
Participating agencies will receive guidance and training on the program, while the public will receive information on how to improve their diets.
“As obesity and sedentary lifestyles become prevalent globally and locally, encouraging balanced and nutritious dietary choices is critical to the overall health of society and is in line with the ADPHC’s vision of a healthy, safe society through the promotion of prevention and public health ,” the center said, in a statement issued by Wam.
The UAE is already taking steps to improve the health and well-being of its population.
In March, the UAE Working Group on Obesity held its first meeting.
It focuses on educating children aged 5 to 17 about the dangers of obesity, with a focus on healthy eating, weight management, exercise and nutrition.
