UAE’s latest back-to-school Covid rules explained

Hundreds of thousands of students across the UAE will begin their new school year On August 29, the latest Covid-19 safety rules announced by the government on Tuesday are expected to be followed.

The announcement is made by National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Agency Faculty and staff will also be affected.

Here are the latest rules parents and teachers need to know before the new term begins.

Who needs a PCR test to go back to school?

Students, staff, and service providers 12 and older government school Negative PCR test results must be obtained no more than 96 hours before the start of the new school year, officials said Tuesday.

However, as the UAE adopted a symptom-only strategy last term, regular testing is not required.

Do children have to wear masks at school?

Masks are no longer required outdoors, but are mandatory indoors.

Is distance learning an option?

Virus-infected students and staff can choose to study and work remotely Coronavirus diseaseand anyone with respiratory symptoms.

A PCR test will confirm whether these symptoms are caused by the coronavirus.

Can unvaccinated children go to school?

All students can attend public schools in person, including those who are unvaccinated or excluded from vaccinations for health reasons.

Anyone entering a university campus who has not been vaccinated for health reasons or has been excluded from vaccinations will need to Al Hosn smartphone app.

Do you still need to maintain social distancing?

Mandatory social distancing protocols on educational campuses have been lifted. Instead, the limits are at each institution’s discretion — including arrangements within school buses.

Temperature checks for students and staff have also ended.

What about private schools?

The private school regulators in Abu Dhabi and Dubai have not released guidelines for the next school year.

Under current rules, Private school students in Dubai If they travel abroad, they will not be required to take a PCR test before returning to the classroom.

The Knowledge and Development Authority’s recently updated guidance states that there are no testing requirements.

However, caution is advised when travelling abroad and any child showing symptoms of Covid-19 should stay home and get a PCR test.

Students and staff who have been in close contact with someone with coronavirus but do not have any symptoms can attend school without quarantine.

In Abu Dhabi, students and staff need to Al Hosn smartphone app.

Passes will remain green for 14 days after a negative test for vaccinated students, teachers and other staff 16 and older, and 30 days for students under 16.

All students must be free of any coronavirus-related symptoms and maintain their green status on the Al Hosn app according to their age category.
