Simu Liu will play the villain in the Netflix film “Atlas.”
The “Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” star has a role in the sci-fi film alongside Jennifer Lopez, with Sterling K. Brown and Abraham Popola also joining the project.
Brad Peyton will direct the show, which tells the story of an intelligence analyst who is stranded on a distant planet and must learn to don military mechs to survive.
Aron Eli Colette wrote the screenplay for the film and wrote the original script by Leo Sardarian.
“Atlas” is part of Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions and Netflix creative partnership, with J.Lo, her production partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and manager Benny Medina working on a series of films with the streaming giant , TV series and other content.
The partnership focuses on projects that support female actors, writers and filmmakers.
Simu plays Ken Doll in the new “Barbie” movie and has revealed that he’s been waxing for the highly anticipated new film, which will also star Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

Little is known about the plot of the “Barbie” movie, and Simu knows very well how the film bosses approached the project.
