August 25 (UPI) – British police have identified a second man in the fatal shooting of a 9-year-old girl in Liverpool, England, earlier this week, investigators said at a Thursday morning briefing.
Detectives have spoken to the man, an associate of the man believed to have been the target of the killing of Olivia Pratt-Korbel, police say.
‘It’s unclear at this stage’ if the yet-to-be-identified gunman is still in the country Mark Camien told reporters on Thursday.
Detectives are exploring “some very active investigative leads,” Camien told reporters.
“Wherever he goes, we will find him.”
Police also said the person they identified was likely not the one who pulled the trigger.
“I had a hard time finding words to describe that person and what they did,” Kamien told reporters.
“And the fact is that [a child has died], they will know what they have done, they still have no conscience to stand up and give up on themselves. “
Olivia Platt-Korber was shot inside She was at her home in the city’s Knotty Ash district on Monday night. Her mother opened the front door when a scuffle between the two men broke out outside. Two people burst into the house, and one of them opened fire, inadvertently hitting and killing the 9-year-old.
Police believe the bullet was intended for convicted burglar Joseph Nee, 35. The gunman fired at Nee before fleeing the scene. Ni was taken to the hospital and will be sent back to prison when he is released. The relationship between Ni and the second suspected target is unclear.
Pratt-Korbel’s mother was released from hospital after she was shot in the wrist while trying to close the door.
