After some national touring this summer, Asbury Park singer-songwriter Sean Tobin and his band Boardwalk Fire will be rocking the Asbury Boardwalk on August 31 to close out Asbury Park Live series to benefit the Asbury Park Music Foundation.
Sean has three albums with plenty of material, but the tune most people want to hear is the title track “Ghost of the Arcade” on the latest LP. The unforgettable, ingrained local hit is the Makin Waves song of the week.
This week’s Makin Waves song, “Ghost of the Arcade,” is also available on ThePenguinRocks.com’s “Radio Jersey” on August 26th from 6-8pm.If you missed it, you can also listen to it anytime in the archives penguin or hybrid cloud.
The heart of a rustic folk-rock novel, “Soul of the Arcade,” will be especially exciting just a few feet from one of the casino’s most famous arcade machines ever.

Like the songwriter Bruce Springsteen who made the arcade famous, Sean’s story-like songs were heavily influenced by the great American novelist John Steinbeck. Bruce’s shadow also hangs over his imaginative Americana brand.
“The best and worst advice I’ve ever received is to stop ‘writing cool,'” Sean said. “I ran with it and I think I found the perfect middle ground. Between romance and reality.”
Sharing the boardwalk bill at 1st Avenue Green will be the great Asbury-origin root rock band Jackson Pines. Sean and Boardwalk Fire will perform at Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge in Madison, Tennessee on September 14th.
