Bangla Tigers have named Shakib al Hasan as captain for the upcoming T10 Abu Dhabi match in November 2022. The Bangladesh captain will join Caribbean batsman Elvin Lewis, New Zealand’s Colin Munro, Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir and Sri Lanka’s Matheesha Pathirana known as Baby Malinga for their similar bowling moves.
The team, which finished third in last year’s tournament, also appointed Aftab Ahmed as head coach, Richard Stonier as coach, Nazmul Abedin Fahim as assistant coach and mentor, and retained Kunal Manek as analyst. The team is hoping to create some magic in this year’s edition, as many expect Shakib Hassan to lead the frontcourt and create a positive environment in the locker room.
Bengals owner has Shakib in high spirits
Franchisee owner Mohammad Yasin Chowdhury says “Shakib is a great fit to play for the Bengal Tigers. He is a great ambassador for Bangladesh cricket. We were keen to include him in the squad from day one, but due to the busy schedule of the national team, we won’t get it until this season He. He is a dynamic, experienced, dedicated, enthusiastic and motivated player and an inspiring captain who will undoubtedly lead the team from the front.”
“The focus this year is on teamwork, as pure talent may help us win games, but teamwork and intelligence combined will win championships. From conscious player selection to coaching team experience, we are confident to be a serious contender for the trophy. To acquire quality emerging players, we even organised a local talent hunt to further strengthen the team. With Shakib at the helm, the future looks bright.
“As a bowler, Shakib is accurate, consistent and shrewd; his aggression and wide batting range are some of his many batting attributes. More importantly, he has confidence and a good temperament, with no sense of the big game. Panic and ready to go up against all the teams.”
“His addition to the team this year reinforces the importance of Abu Dhabi T10 and its popularity among players at the highest level. The increasing number of international players joining the event not only adds to the excitement, but also creates a strong sense for the local community. The player provides a great opportunity to watch and learn. Thanks to him, the team is better prepared to lift the trophy than ever before.” Choudhury concluded.
Shakib is ready for another challenge
The Bangladesh Cricket Board recently made him the captain of the T20I format, even though his behaviour was not correct. The classy hitter hopes his game won’t suffer because of his grumpy personality. The gorgeous all-rounder has all the dangerous and destructive skills in the world. The Bengals hope they can win the title and as their boss says they need to focus on teamwork.
Sreesanth has a chance to revive his career
Sreesanth will join the team as a mentor. The Pacers, known for their spot-up scandal, are slowly making their way into coaching. This is a fresh start in his career and he wants to make the most of it.
He knows people still hate him for ruining the gentleman’s game, but everyone deserves a second chance, wrong or not. Interestingly, his role as mentor is not an easy one as he has to be vigilant.
