ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mohamed Sheikh Baz Sharif received a call from United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed on Saturday.
During the conference call, the UAE President expressed his heartfelt condolences for the loss of precious lives caused by torrential rains and flash floods across Pakistan. His Highness expressed his firm solidarity with the people of Pakistan at this difficult time and wished a speedy recovery to all the injured.
The UAE President extended all possible aid to Pakistan in response to this natural disaster.
In this case, he told the Prime Minister that in addition to tents and other food supplies, the UAE will immediately deliver food supplies as well as medical and pharmaceutical supplies.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the ongoing relief work by the Emirates Red Crescent Society and the Khalifa bin Zayed Foundation in flood-affected areas.
Prime Minister Mohammad Sheikhbaz Sharif thanked His Highness for his timely assistance to support the government’s relief and disaster relief efforts.
Meanwhile, Middle Eastern media reported that Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed had ordered emergency aid to Pakistan. Sheikh Mohammed also ordered all humanitarian relief services to be provided to the displaced to increase their ability to overcome the challenges they face.
The UAE’s relief aid includes some 300,000 tonnes of food supplies, as well as large supplies of medical and medicine, as well as tents and shelter materials. The UAE Rescue Team will also provide various humanitarian support to Pakistani cadres and agencies to ensure the safety of those affected and their food, medical and logistical needs.
