Acciona, Spain’s leading infrastructure giant, said its key division, Acciona Cultura, has completed work on four pavilions at Dubai’s Al Shindagha Museum – Traditions, Land Life, Traditional Foods and Poetry.
The Dubai Municipality has awarded Acciona Cultura part of the design, technical development and museum implementation of the four phases of the exhibition project, which comprises 17 historic buildings with a total exhibition area of 7,980 square meters.
Al Shindagha Museum is a new world-class heritage museum in Dubai’s historic district, using the most innovative technology to promote the city’s history, art and heritage.
Al Shindagha is the area where Dubai’s Al Maktoum ruling family originally lived. The DM Department of Architectural Heritage and Antiquities has rebuilt the historic home using authentic methods to respect the original architecture as much as possible.
The 35,000-square-meter Al Shindagha Museum will showcase more large-scale collections of great historical and cultural value in an authentic setting.
The museum is divided into several themed pavilions, which consist of gathered historic buildings. Each pavilion focuses on a different theme related to Dubai’s history and culture, covering several overarching themes.
Traditions, Life on the Land, Traditional Food Pavilion and Poetry Pavilion were developed and implemented entirely by Acciona Cultura. The Traditional Food Pavilion and Poetry Pavilion were designed by Acciona Cultura, and the Tradition and Living Pavilion on the Land was based on a design by Ralph Appelbaum Associates.
The museum project combines the most innovative experiential, engaging and interactive technologies with traditional objects and information graphics through multi-sensory and immersive video installations and projection mapping.
The Traditions Pavilion at the Shindagha Museum includes four houses dedicated to different traditions in Emirati culture, with an exhibition area of 2,950 square meters.
