The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has announced registrations for their first virtual learning programme: Deep Learning Camp 2022.

Designed for Emirati students passionate about space science and machine learning, the programme will be held online over three days: 10, 11 and 17 September 2022.

The Deep Learning Camp was launched under the overall initiative of MBRSC to support the UAE’s strategic direction in the tech sector.

Saeed Al Mansoori, Acting Director, Remote Sensing Division, MBRSC said: “We want to educate students about the future and keep them abreast of the changing world of technology. Our Deep Learning Camp 2022 is a foundational programme that will help you understand the capabilities of deep learning. , challenges and consequences, and prepare to participate in the development of cutting-edge AI technologies.”

Deep Learning Camp 2022

A 3-day intensive course, the camp is divided into two parts for ease of understanding.

The first part provides participants with the experience of exploring space science through theoretical and practical sessions conducted by experts in the field from 10 to 11 September 2022.

The theory course will teach students the principles, applications and techniques of deep learning, with an emphasis on satellite imagery analysis or object detection.

Hands-on courses will include hands-on experience applying deep learning using Python and Google Collab, covering three areas: labeling, training, and detection.

This will be followed by a “hackathon” on September 17, where students will demonstrate what they have gained through the bootcamp.

All participants will receive a certificate issued by MBRSC.

Registration Details

Applicants must be students of any university in the UAE, between the ages of 18 and 30. Basic knowledge of mathematics, the Python programming language, and image processing operations is required.

A total of 15 participants will be selected from those who have completed the registration process. The last date to register and submit the required documents is September 2, 2022.
