On Tuesday, New York Attorney General Letitia James held a press conference where she announced the results of the investigation into the allegations of sexual harassment against Andrew Cuomo. At the press conference, she announced that the investigation had concluded that the governor had sexually harassed multiple women and violated state and federal laws.
according to NBC NewsAn investigation conducted by the state’s attorney general’s office found that Cuomo had harassed 11 women who were current and former state employees. According to reports, Cuomo and his team also retaliated against a former employee for harassment.
New York State Attorney General Letia James said: “This investigation reveals behaviors that corrupt the structure and nature of our state government, and reveals possible injustices at the highest level of government.” She continued that Cuomo carried out Unwelcome groping, kissing, hugging, and inappropriate comments.
In the past, Cuomo denied touching anyone improperly, and apologized for any discomfort anyone might feel, saying that it was not his intention.
The New York Congress delegation and many state members encouraged Cuomo to resign before the investigation was over, and he decided not to resign. The Office of Attorney General James launched an investigation into his allegations as early as March.
Soon after Attorney General James’ press conference, Cuomo released a video statement denying Claim against himHe said that his lawyer was prepared to refute the charges against him while defending his innocence.
“I am 63 years old. I have spent my entire adult life in public view. That’s not who I am, that’s not who I used to be,” he said.
