According to Dawn, the remote-controlled bomb exploded in the Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The dead soldier was identified as Lance Naik Mujahid Shah, officials added. The dead and wounded were later transferred to the Kar Regional Headquarters Hospital.

According to Dawn, regional police officer Abdul Samad Khan told reporters that a search operation was underway to arrest the attackers.

The attack came three days after Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) ended an eight-day “sit in peace” over the deteriorating law and order situation in the region.

The sit-in ended after the district government signed an agreement with organizers to improve the law and order situation, with the support of political parties, civil society, youth and trader organizations, Dawn reported.

According to local media reports, JUI-F protested in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, against the killing of local leaders and the lawlessness of the region.

On Sunday, workers from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl and other political parties continued their sit-in to protest lawlessness in the village of Eidek. They called for the early arrest of the killers of JUI-F leaders Qari Samiuddin, Hafiz Nauman and others, Dawn reported.

JUI-F leader Qari Samiuddin and his colleague Hafiz Numan Dawar were on their way home from the village of Eidek when their car was near the town of Mirali in North Waziristan on July 14, locals and officials said, Dawn reported. was ambushed on Bichi Road.
