Yesat The company, announced on September 1, is one of 21 UAE companies that have pledged to support the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE) strategic plan. The aim here is to drive private sector engagement in advancing the national decarbonisation effort in support of the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative. The pledge was made on August 29 as part of the fourth phase of the National Dialogue on Climate Ambition (NDCA), which aims to build a national culture of sustainable development and highlight the country’s efforts to become climate neutral.
Yahsat is committed to adapting climate change mitigation efforts to the company’s business in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 13 on climate action by enhancing the measurement and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions, developing plans to reduce its carbon footprint, and adapting climate change mitigation efforts. Yahsat further committed to incorporating an inclusive approach into its sustainability and climate change action plans by including youth, women and socially disadvantaged groups.
“Joining the Emirates Climate Responsible Corporation commitment is closely linked to our strategy to achieve this vision and reaffirms our commitment to take enhanced measures to increase transparency and promote environmental protection. We look forward to being a collaboration between the UAE’s private sector, NGOs and international entities and part of a collective effort,” Yahsat CEO Ali Al Hashemi said in a statement.
