Foreign Minister S Jaishankar paid a visit to the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on 2 September 2022, and commended his efforts in elevating the strategic relationship between India and the UAE to a higher level. role at a high level.

Earlier, Mr Jashankar co-chaired the 14th India-UAE Joint Committee Meeting (JCM) in Abu Dhabi on Thursday with his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan .

Mr Jaishankar arrived here on Wednesday for a three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates to review the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

High-level interactions between India and the UAE have been frequent exchanges this year.

Prime Minister Modi visited Abu Dhabi on June 28, where he met with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the new President of the UAE and ruler of Abu Dhabi, and the two leaders reaffirmed further deepening and A commitment to diversify bilateral comprehensive strategic partnerships.

Earlier, the two leaders also held a virtual summit on February 18 during which the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) was signed and a vision statement was adopted.

The two leaders also attended the I2U2 summit on July 14. U.S. President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Yar Lapid also attended the summit. The new grouping is called “I2U2”, with the “I” for India and Israel and the “U” for the United States and the United Arab Emirates.

Bilateral trade in fiscal 2021-22 is estimated at about $72 billion. The UAE is India’s third largest trading partner and second largest export destination. The UAE’s FDI in India has been increasing over the past few years and now stands at over $12 billion.

The Indian diaspora community is the largest ethnic community in the UAE, making up about 35% of the country’s population.

The UAE is India’s third-largest export destination (after the US and China), with exports worth nearly $16 billion in 2020-21.
