Business Beats: Restaurant, Entertainment Comes to Main and Main’s The Crossing | Business Beats

[ad_1]

A two-story restaurant and bar is planned for The Crossing within the Main and Main developments at Loop 281 in Longview and US 259.

A building permit application filed with the City of Longview shows Cargo’s building will be worth nearly $2 million. Plans submitted to the city show the new building will be built adjacent to an existing cistern in the 42-acre development and next to a new street on Nealy Way, a commercial center.

The plan also shows that the restaurant will offer many entertainment options in the surrounding area.

Cargo LLC executive Michael Graham confirmed that the new 9,000-square-foot restaurant will also feature several outdoor elements — two outdoor pickle courts, a fenced kids area with splash pads and other climbing toys, an 18-hole Putting green, there is also an outdoor stage and seating.

Cargo expects to start working on site within 30 days, subject to licensing.

Medical training school opens

Necole’s Academy of Study, located at 1616 Judson Road, Longview, offers accredited courses in a variety of medical specialties.

Shez Wilson, general manager of Necole’s Learning Academy in Longview, said Necole Mitchell opened her first learning academy in Jacksonville two years ago and has now expanded to Garland and Longview. Longview School celebrated its grand opening on August 26 and officially opened on August 29, Wlison said. Classes start on Tuesday and registration is still available.

The school offers courses that lead to certifications as pharmaceutical assistants, medical assistants, phlebotomists, pharmacy technicians, and other medical jobs, and courses last from 3 to 12 weeks, depending on the certification a student seeks.

Some drove from Longview to the Jacksonville campus for classes, Wilson said. That, along with the closure of Vista College, which offered a similar program in Longview, prompted the school to expand here, she said.

“We also want to provide opportunities for Longview and the surrounding area,” Wilson said.

Studio produces ‘Joyful Noise’ in downtown

Kimber Weinert

Happy Noise Music Studio owner Kimberly Weinert stands outside their new location on Fredonia Street in downtown Longview.

Kimberly Weinert’s music studio brings “Joyful Noise” to downtown Longview.

Weinert, a former elementary school music teacher, left her job at New Diana ISD eight years after she and her husband started having children.

“I really wanted to stay at home,” she said of her decision to start offering piano lessons at home under the name Happy Noise Piano Lessons. She quickly hit her student limit, started waiting in line, and started hiring other teachers to help. She has relocated twice since then to accommodate more students and more course options.

Weinert’s Joyful Noise music studio recently moved to 208 N. Fredonia St. in downtown Longview, where the Copper Tree Retreat Massage and Med Spa were previously located. It moved to another building in the city center.

The music studio now employs a dozen piano, violin, vocal, guitar, flute, percussion and ukulele teachers. They deliver weekly lessons to a studio that has grown to 235 students.

“The Lord has blessed us greatly,” Weinert said. “We were really in a bit of awe.”
