DUBAI, 2nd September, 2022 (WAM) — Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) today signed an agreement with the Human Resources Authority (HRA) of Abu Dhabi to further promote the employment of young UAE nationals in the industrial sector.
Under the agreement, EGA will train 23 high school students registered in the HRA database and interested in developing skills relevant to technical careers through EGA’s long-running national training program. After completing the one-year intensive training program, successful trainees are awarded a permanent contract for an operational role at EGA’s industrial facilities.
The HRA will continue to nominate additional candidates and short-listed UAE nationals will be eligible for the career counselling programme after successfully passing the company’s entrance exam and a personal interview held during an introductory seminar as part of the EGA’s national training programme.
Last year, EGA recruited more than 100 Emiratis, 73 of whom participated in separate training programmes, including a national training smelter programme developed in partnership with and sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Human Resources Authority.
Amal Nasser Jabri, Director-General of Human Resources Administration, said: “Signing the agreement with EGA is part of our support for the industrial sector to help keep pace with future job demands.
The agreement also strengthens HRA’s emirateization efforts by developing the competencies of job seekers according to international standards, further enabling citizens to find jobs while supporting their effective participation in the emirate’s sustainable economic development process.

EGA’s national training programme prepares young UAE nationals for operational roles in EGA’s smelters and industrial facilities. More than 5,000 UAE nationals have graduated from these programmes since they were first established in 1982. Many have pursued long and successful careers at EGA, with some reaching the company’s top leadership.
Nearly 1,200 UAE nationals now work at the EGA. EGA’s more than 700 UAE employees are under the age of 35.
