New Delhi, India, 3 September – India and the UAE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a Cultural Council Forum to deepen partnership and strengthen ancient civic ties during the 14th India-UAE Joint Committee meeting (JCM) Thursday in Abu Dhabi.
According to a MEA press release on Friday, the MoU was signed between the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Indian Council on Cultural Relations (ICCR).
In addition, the two countries have signed two memorandums of understanding dedicated to protecting the endangered Great Indian Bustard and Little Flower Bustard.
“These are memorandums of understanding between the Wildlife Research Institute of India and the International Foundation for the Conservation of the Greater Indian Bustard and the Lesser Bustard,” the MEA press release said.
The meeting was co-chaired by S Jaishankar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Sheikh Abdulla bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, and the two ministers discussed significant progress in cooperation and identified avenues for future cooperation.
“The 14th India-UAE Joint Committee meeting was very productive. Thanks to His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan for co-chairing the meeting. Evaluating the significant progress made in multiple areas of cooperation . . The shared vision of our leadership is being rapidly implemented,” Jashankar tweeted on Friday.
During the meeting, Jashankar and the UAE Foreign Minister expressed their deep satisfaction with the continued high growth trajectory of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The two ministers noted the regular high-level political interactions between the two sides, notably Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on 28 June The meeting, the virtual summit on February 18, and their participation at the virtual I2U2 summit this July.
