The Abu Dhabi Judiciary Department (ADJD) has expanded the use of its interactive bilingual claim form for cases brought to court. Spanish is the newest language alongside Arabic, English, French, Hindi, Russian and Chinese – bringing the total number of languages used in the bilingual claim form to seven. This will allow foreign litigants to easily understand court procedures in their own language and become familiar with the rights and obligations under the law.

Commenting on the news, ADJD Deputy Minister Youssef Saeed Al Abri said the expansion is in line with Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister, Presidential Court Minister and ADJD Chairman. Al Nahyan) to develop a groundbreaking and innovative judicial system.

His aim is to provide world-class judicial services and play an active role in enhancing Abu Dhabi’s competitive position as an attractive investment environment and a destination for talent from around the world.

In addition to one of the approved languages, the interactive form is also available in Arabic, Al Abri said. Court users will be able to easily select a language and become familiar with the specific legal process for filing a lawsuit in Abu Dhabi courts. The interactive claim form includes an advocacy section for litigants and will simplify the registration process, ensuring access to legal texts relevant to their case, he added.

Al Abri also noted that the inclusion of Spanish in the claim form will benefit some 20 residential communities in the country and is part of the framework of the bilingual litigation system. The framework is designed to provide unparalleled judicial services to meet the needs of residents of different nationalities – in line with the Abu Dhabi government’s directive to create attractive areas to live, work and invest.

The claims forms provided by the judiciary have features such as unique form and content; for example, for the first time in court, these forms include infographics. Additionally, these forms use simple terminology and include a list of the most common claims filed with the courts.

This form can be completed by an individual through the ADJD without seeking special assistance.
