Yungblud feels protected by his fans.
The 25-year-old singer “felt lost and alone as a child” – but he has now managed to find a “sense of community” through his music.
He shared: “I felt very lost and alone as a child.
“Walking down the street, I felt alone, even though I was surrounded by 10 buddies. Through this music, I found a community that would protect me.”
Yungblud – whose real name is Dominic Harrison – found strength and solace in the support of his fans.
The 11 Minutes producer told the BBC: “I hold my chest out and put my heart on a plate and I know people will take care of it. Even if the rest of the world spit on it or stepped on it, someone will. Pick it up and sew it back for me.”
Yungblud has won many awards during his career, including the NME and MTV gongs. But he insists that getting credit was not his ultimate motive.
He said: “That thing is okay. It’s on my shelf, I can put it on the wall, but it doesn’t ignite my soul. The fire that ignites my soul is to create a sense of belonging.”
Meanwhile, Yungblud recently claimed he and Lewis Capaldi would create “massacres” when they were together at night.
The singer explained that they like to go out for drinks together and that they usually stay outside after 6am.
Yungblud shared: “It was a carnage. To be honest, it was just f******…the beer tap ran dry, honestly.
“We always end up at the back of the pub. If we’re drinking, we’ll come in and have a quiet drink, and pubs in the UK drag us behind bars and we don’t go out until 6am.
“Then my manager tried to wake me up in bed because I had an interview at ten.
“He was like, ‘What happened?’ I thought, ‘I’m out with Lewis again…'”
