[ad_1]

The UAE has provided nearly 120 million U.S. dollars in aid in the past five years.

Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation of the UAE, stated that the UAE will continue to support Lebanon at this difficult stage.

She affirmed the country’s support for the Lebanese people and said that the UAE will continue to cooperate with international organizations and partners to provide various forms of humanitarian assistance and support for development.

This was announced during the minister’s participation in the “Response to the needs of the Lebanese people” meeting initiated by French President Emmanuel Macron and the United Nations. Many heads of state, representatives of international organizations and civil society participated in the meeting held last year to commemorate the bombing of Beirut Port.

The purpose of the conference is to mobilize humanitarian support and respond to the needs of the Lebanese people in reconstruction, recovery and economic development.

Al Hashimi said that the UAE has provided nearly US$120 million in aid in the past five years.

She pointed out that the UAE has operated an air bridge for medical and humanitarian supplies in the past few months to support efforts to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic.

She pointed out that the UAE hopes that Lebanon can form a government that can bring about the required changes and focus on the reconstruction, construction and prosperity of the country.
