Footage of Unseen Led Zeppelin from the band’s legendary LA Forum gig has been revealed for the first time.
The “Whole Lotta Love” rock show at the iconic venue on September 4, 1970 has become one of their most famous acts, and the “Live on Blueberry Hill” LP is considered one of the earliest rock bootlegs.
Footage from the show hadn’t been seen until this week, but fan Eddie Vincent finally shared his seven-minute recording on YouTube after 52 years.
Introducing his video, Eddie sneaks a Kodak Brownie 8mm camera into the venue to capture some material – saying: “When my friends and I arrived at the forum, I tucked it into my jacket .
“Back then, there was no problem with the door. The seating was great, in the first row behind the stage.
“We’re behind John Bonham’s gong, so you don’t see him much, but the sound is great.”
Although the fan was limited to 30 seconds of camera at a time for most of the show, he did get clips of some songs, including “Whole Lotta Love,” “Thank You,” and “What Is and Shouldn’t Be.” what’.
Eddie added: “In the sound set, John hides behind a gong and picks up a cigarette, very politely acknowledging our blind praise.
“He even posed for my camera twice, and the flash didn’t go out both times. Unfortunately, the pictures were worthless. But a few others, along with that 8mm film, survived. “
He recently found his old footage and sent it to another Zeppelin fan, John Waters, who put it in along with the audio from “Live on Blueberry Hill” and uploaded it to YouTube.
He told Classic Rock magazine: “Music needs to exist. I know a lot of collectors and businessmen who don’t give away their stuff and it’s a shame to me.
“Music is meant to be shared, and you need it today to get out of this crazy world.
“If this movie can bring joy to a lot of people, hey, we’re doing well.”
