Cabinet has approved India, UAE to sign deal
New Delhi:
The coalition cabinet on Wednesday approved the agreement signed between the Indian Ministry of Education and the UAE on cooperation in the field of education. The purpose of this agreement is to further strengthen and expand our educational cooperation between India and the UAE.
“A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the UAE in the field of education in 2015, which expired in 2018. In 2019, at the meeting of the education ministers of the two countries, the UAE side proposed to sign a new Memorandum of Understanding. The new Memorandum of Understanding includes India New National Education Policy 2020 in the Education Ecosystem,” an official statement said.
The agreement is aimed at promoting information education exchange, capacity development of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) teaching staff, promoting academic cooperation between higher education institutions (HEIs) of the two countries to offer twinning, joint degree and dual degree programmes as well as any other such areas as agreed.
The agreement will revitalize educational cooperation and increase academic mobility between India and the UAE, while facilitating the exchange of information to facilitate mutual recognition of these qualifications. As the UAE is a major work destination for Indians, it also covers TVET’s collaboration, the statement said.
“The agreement is valid for five years from the date of signing and is automatically renewed upon mutual consent. Once signed, the MoU will replace the earlier MoU signed with the UAE in 2015, which will no longer apply effect,” it added.
