Braden and Wagner speak at indoor breakfast
On Friday, September 9th, the Destin Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their “Pre-Open Breakfast” event. Assemblymen Rodney Brayden and Bobby Wagner, both candidates for Destin mayor, will share their platforms and answer questions. Registration and payment are required prior to the event. No walk-in or payment is accepted at the door. The fee is $25 for members and $35 for non-members, and the registration deadline is Tuesday, September 6th.

Picnic for local first responders
Destin Chamber of Commerce trustees will celebrate and thank local first responders with a free picnic on Friday, September 9. They will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs at Destin Firehouse #9 at 848 Airport Road in Destin, and serving BBQ sliders. All Police, Firefighters, Medics, Beach Safety, EMS and Military are invited from 11am to 1pm.
Chef’s Wine Dinner on September 14
Destin Soleil chef Michael Sichel is gearing up to host his second Chef’s Table Wine Dinner on September 14 at 6pm, focusing on wines from France’s Loire Valley
Guests will arrive and be seated at the chef’s table for a four-course dinner, each paired with wines from the Loire Valley. The chef will walk guests through each dish, describing the wines and why they were chosen to pair with the dish.
With the backdrop of the Gulf of Mexico, wine dinner attendees will experience an evening of wine and food. Reservations are limited and Soleil can only be contacted at (850) 353-2867. Prices are $159 per person, including four courses and wine per course.
Wiggin’ Out for a Cause
The Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center (ECCAC) hosted its sixth annual Wiggin’ Out For A Cause event hosted by Great American RV Superstores on Thursday, September 22 from 6-10pm at the Shoreline Church Events Area at 140 Palm St. Sting.
This year, ECCAC is also encouraging men to participate. With a “dream prom night” theme, ladies and gentlemen can wear their best (or worst) prom attire.
Guests are encouraged to pre-order tickets now for $90 per person. Limited VIP tickets of $150 per person include a designer wig and a private VIP prep party from 5-6pm. The proceeds will benefit ECCAC. Tickets can be purchased online at www.eccac.org or by calling Ana Michalzik at 850-420-4639.
International Coastal Cleanup Day
Saltwater Restaurant and Destin-Fort Walton Beach Tourism will host an international coastal cleanup on Saturday, September 17 from 8-10am
For more than 35 years, Ocean Conservancy has been hosting the International Coastal Cleanup®, a global event that prides itself on “using the power of people to fight marine debris.” The goal of the cleanup is to remove as much litter and debris as possible from local beaches, and there are multiple locations available for volunteers of all ages. Participants will receive an activity t-shirt (limited, first come, first served) and complimentary post-clean breakfast at The Boardwalk, The Crab Trap and The Surf Hut locations. Volunteers were asked to bring their own buckets, mesh bags, gloves and grabs to collect trash. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring water and sunscreen.
After the cleanup, the conservation fun continues with the Choctawhatchee Bay Family FUN-FEST on Okaloosa Island’s boardwalk from 10am to 1pm. Hosted by the Choctawhatchee Estuary Program, this event celebrates National Estuary Week and guests will enjoy food vendors, activities Awards for kids, local suppliers and doors.
Barktoberfest is October 27th
The 7th Annual Barktoberfest is a canine trick-or-treating event hosted by Dog-Harmony at Grand Park, Grand Boulevard, Sandestin, Thursday, October 27th, 4:30-6:30pm
Donate $15 per dog and each participant stands a chance to win creepy prizes for the best pet and parent Halloween costumes and professional photos sponsored by Mills Photo Design.
Best matching Halloween costumes will be judged during the event, and the winning ghost duo will be announced at 6:15pm

Avenue Farmers Market
The Grand Boulevard Farmers Market is held every Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm at Grand Park in the heart of Grand Boulevard, South Walton. Bring your shopping bag for local produce, eggs, jams and pies. Homemade soaps, good olive oils and pickled stuff are all available.
Rosemary Beach Farmers Market
Visit the 30A Farmers Market in Rosemary Beach on Sundays from 9am-1pm. The local farmers market is held year-round on Sundays and Thursdays throughout the summer at North Barrett Square in Scenic 30A.
Taylor Dane concert rescheduled
The Marty Kelly Foundation for the Arts (MKAF) has announced that Taylor Dayne’s concert scheduled for Thursday, May 26 has been postponed to a later date due to inclement weather. Due to the impending bad weather and for safety and logistical reasons (setup/concert preparation). The concert has been postponed until Thursday, October 13th. Tickets will automatically transfer to this new date.

Adopt-A-Street
The City of Destin’s Adopt-A-Street program allows local families, businesses and community groups to provide valuable community services by adopting street sections to remove trash and debris. Groups participating in the program will list their names on the city’s website and install signage on the streets they adopt.
