UAE-based Mearverse Holdings has selected Dubai and Abu Dhabi as the first cities to launch as part of its global Mearverse rollout. Their virtual environments will match real-world events and locations, and the beta is expected to go live in Q4 2022, with a global rollout soon thereafter.

Global users will be able to experience the city’s sights and landmarks as well as real-world utilities from the comfort of their homes – merging the physical and digital worlds.

In contrast to current virtual reality applications that build small-scale digital fantasy worlds, the new platform introduces a comprehensive, utility-based virtual world with full multi-device interoperability designed to stream quickly. Users can find synergy between their needs and the platform that incorporates NFT blockchain technology. This will include the ability to browse and shop from the largest retail brands and stores, buy ad space in the virtual city, attend mock lectures, and apply for residence visas, business licenses, and more.

“After carefully researching other key regions, we decided to make Dubai and Abu Dhabi the first SimCities in our new virtual world,” said Priven Reddy, CEO of Dubai-based Metarverse Holdings.

Meanwhile, Metarverse Holdings is pouring AED200 million into the project through the new platform.

Karyn Naidoo, Zengary, strategic advisor to Metarverse Holdings, said: “With the upcoming beta release, we will be releasing more key locations across the emirate, with a focus on creating visually, topographically and geometrically scaled virtual spaces to recreate Dubai and Abu Dhabi’s most authentic feel in the virtual world, using virtual reality headsets, augmented reality glasses, smartphone apps and other devices to provide space for an endless, interconnected virtual community. After the UAE launches, we may investigate Qatar and Saudi Arabia as a potential candidate for our next virtual country.”

As the UAE government is also going all out to promote the adoption of blockchain technology, digital assets and Metaverse across the region, Afdal Baig, a strategic partner of Metarverse Holdings, believes that the platform will connect the government’s mission to opportunities to leverage real estate, education, tourism Focus areas such as attractions, retail, government services, healthcare and professional services.

“We believe that this new platform will help expand the UAE’s estimated $4 billion market as it is at the forefront of technology and embraces the true possibilities of Web 3.0, not only for economic progress but also for social progress. Whole. We can help launch a movement to revolutionize the way we live today by creating this world first and showing the best of Dubai and Abu Dhabi,” commented Afdal.
