Quilt and Craft Fair – This year is the 50th St. Mary’s Catholic Church Quilt and Craft Fair, Thursday, September 15th, 10am-4pm to Saturday, September 17th. This is the return of the long-awaited event, last held in 2019, and it will feature unique quilted designs, handcrafted crafts and a delicious lunch, all available for purchase. The annual “Star of Bethlehem” quilt raffle is also returning with a limited number of tickets. St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 960 Missouri Ave. in Vernonia.

A Sense of Place – Inspired by nature, spontaneity and lived experience, artists Chloe Harris, Loren Nelson and Karen Shawcross create paintings and photographs to capture the light and poetry of place through September 23rd. MEMBERSHIP EXHIBITION – New members of the Village Gallery of Arts join the latest exhibition at the Cedar Mill Gallery, which runs until September 25th. Painter Lisa Manners is also presenting her trip to Borneo as this month’s “Big & Bold” artist. Country Art Gallery, 1060 NW Saltzman Road at Cedar Mill.

Nordic Folktales Reimagined – Classic tales from Northern Europe and beyond take a new twist in the latest exhibition from the Nordic Northwest until 25 September. Lectures on “Exploring the Viking World” by medieval historian Terri Barnes will be held on Saturday 10th, 17th and 24th September at 10am. Nodia House, 8800 SW Oleson Road At Garden House.

The Spirit of Pastel – Oregon’s Pastel Artists have partnered with the Chehallam Cultural Center to present an open, internationally judged exhibition featuring the work of dozens of artists working in the pastel medium, currently on view Out until September 30th. The Crucible from Gaia – Set against a backdrop of stunning Japanese gardens, art and architecture, this exhibition runs through the end of September and brings together Katy McFadden’s large-scale ceramic sculptures, Rick Crawford’s powerful wood skills, and Phil’s forged and fabricated metals Form family dinner. Quilt Show — The Westside Quilters Guild will be showcasing 150 quilts made by members during the COVID-19 pandemic on Saturday, October 1st, 10am-5pm and Sunday, October 2nd, 10am-4pm. The show also includes vendors, boutiques and raffles, as well as a hula show on October 2 at 11am. Hidden Creek Community Center, 5100 NE Hidden Creek Drive in Hillsboro.

Thread – Fiber Art will be back on gallery walls until October 6th for this local artist show in Old Town Sherwood. The show highlights a variety of fiber art mediums, from traditional quilting to modern mixed fiber art. Sherwood Arts Center, 22689 SW Pine St. in Sherwood.

CLARKE ALLEN ROSE — On Saturday, September 17th from 7-10pm, Pacific Northwest Roots Indie Folk Rock will play a free live show at Garage Door. McMenamins Grand Lodge, 3505 Pacific Ave. in Forest Grove.

DAKHABRAKHA — The Ukrainian Ensemble will be back at Reser on Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st at 7:30pm. Downtown TIGARD STREET FAIR — Saturday, September 10, 11am-8pm, downtown Tigard hosts a multicultural festival and community celebration. There will be live music, food and drinks and more. Barklandia is a sponsor of this community event. Free admission. Southwest Main Street and Tigard Street in Tigard.

SCAPPOOSE ADVENTURE FESTIVAL – Saturday, September 10, rock climbing, obstacle course, paintball and more will take place in Scappoose, the first ever Scappoose Adventure Festival kicks off with 6K and 10K at 8am and continues live into the evening music. The event is a celebration of the outdoors as well as community gatherings. It is sponsored by Next Adventure and organised by Treadway Events with the support of Scappoose Town Hall. Scappoose Veterans Park, 52590 Captain Roger Kucera Way is located in Scappoose.

Shine the Light — On Sunday, September 11, the Patricia Reser Arts Center hosts a free community open house to celebrate the center’s first full season. Corn Roast and Sidewalk Chalk Arts Festival – Forest Grove Corn Roast returns Saturday, September 17th from noon to 5pm, celebrating the area’s agricultural roots while serving freshly grilled corn, burgers and sausages, as well as lots of local food entertainment . As always, coinciding with the Corn Roast is the Sidewalk Chalk Arts Festival, which will attract chalk artists from across the region to beautify the sidewalks of downtown Forest Grove with their imaginative and colorful artwork. The Spirit of Halloween – St. Helens’ annual Halloween celebration and Disney classic “Halloween City” returns this year from September 17th to October 31st. The popular pumpkin lighting ceremony will take place after the parade on Saturday, October 1st at 6pm. Columbia Landscape Park, 275 Strand St. in St. Helens.
