Karachi: The UAE has started fundraising for flood victims in Sindh and Balochistan.
According to sources at the UAE consulate, the states of Karachi, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah have started fundraising campaigns. A spokesman for the UAE embassy said his country stands with the people of Pakistan at this difficult time. He said that from the beginning of the disaster, the UAE Red Cross has been working hard to provide assistance to the affected areas, while actively rebuilding the affected areas. The UAE continues to deliver relief supplies to individual families, which also includes individual aid boxes.
So far, staff from the UAE consulate and Red Crescent have distributed rations and tents to at least 15,000 families in the two provinces. The head of the rescue team said that despite the damaged roads and bad weather, the rescue team was still trying to provide assistance to the affected people.
The United Arab Emirates has also launched a relief programme to provide food and shelter to the people of Balochistan and Sindh. The programme was launched at the direction of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler of the Al Dhafra region and chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent Society, who directed emergency humanitarian aid and support for those affected by the floods.
