Abu Dhabi Police on Monday called on motorists to exercise caution due to reduced visibility. Authorities are urging drivers to abide by the ever-changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards.

Amid the fog alert issued by multiple authorities in the country, Abu Dhabi Police also shared a video showing some of the key steps Emirati drivers can take during low visibility conditions to ensure their own safety and the safety of those around them. Safety.

The video warns that failure to obey road rules when visibility is reduced could lead to traffic accidents.

“For your safety and the safety of others, please follow these steps while driving,” it added.

Here is the full list of recommended precautions:

  • Always use fog lights if fog is spreading
  • Gradually increase your speed
  • Double the safe distance between you and other vehicles
  • stay in your driveway and ignore anything that might distract you
  • Avoid overtaking or changing lanes without checking that the road is clear
  • In dense fog with near-zero visibility, park the vehicle in a safe place and turn on the hazard lights

Abu Dhabi Police also warned motorists to be aware of weather conditions and to pay attention to speed limit changes on signs and electronic boards.

“We are all responsible for road safety,” the video concludes.

“Follow these tips for a safe path and be part of its safety.”

NCM warns of fog formation, poor visibility

Due to fog formation and low visibility, the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) is also calling on road users and motorists to take all precautions and obey traffic rules.

The NCM said in a statement that from 10 p.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Tuesday (September 13), horizontal visibility in some coastal and interior areas may at times drop further.
