Germany launched its Autumn and Winter campaign to encourage tourists to visit, explore and experience its sustainable multiculturalism, including unspoiled landscapes, authentic cuisine, urban attractions and historic sites.
The Feel Good campaign features a plethora of guide tips highlighting the country’s eco-initiatives, giving conscious travelers enough tools and information to reduce their carbon footprint as they travel across different regions.
The German Environment Agency has set a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 65% by 2030 and becoming fully neutral by 2045, which the German National Tourist Office continues to support through various ongoing initiatives, one of which is ” feel good”‘ campaign.
Under the initiative, states and towns are highlighting their innovative transportation solutions, pioneering examples of green building and expansive parks – all of which ensure an exciting city holiday that can be enjoyed in an ecologically responsible way .
Berlin has an abundance of green hotspots, including vegetarian restaurants and other activities within an urban oasis; Winterberg in North Rhine-Westphalia is equipped with a sustainable guest management system; and Freiburg features the Plusenergy House , designed to achieve the world’s best building energy value and represent future expected energy efficiency standards. The peaceful Black Forest of Deedsheim has long been known as a hub for local food and handcrafted crafts, while Celle has recently become a certified sustainable destination for its eco-friendly initiatives and practices.
Yamina Sofo, Sales and Marketing Director at the German National Tourist Office (GNTO), the GNTB regional office, said: “Modern travelers are becoming more environmentally conscious and planning their trips to be sustainable. “We have observed this responsible travel behaviour, particularly among GCC travellers looking for eco-friendly and sustainable ‘activity’.
“Feeling Good in Germany offers the right advice and tips to enjoy sustainability on the move in the country. Travelers can not only reduce their ecological footprint, but also calculate their carbon with our CO2 calculator emissions, ensuring their travel is climate neutral and as sustainable as possible.”
In addition to measuring the carbon footprint of air and car travel with the CO2 calculator from myclimate.org, the ideal partner for effective climate protection, travelers can also sponsor carbon offset programs in countries around the world. These include providing stoves for the people of Kenya, reforestation assistance for farmers in Nicaragua, and more. This compensation program is designed to help positively shape the future of the world, while making travel as climate neutral as possible.
