Abu Dhabi’s Mansoor Al Mansoori is ready for the biggest challenge of his jet ski career as he races to win the 2022 UIM F2 World Championship in Portugal over the weekend.

The Emirati driver enters the final round of the season at Vila Velha de Ródão on Sunday, narrowly three points ahead of Sharjah’s Sami Selio, with German Stefan Hagin just one point behind third.

It all brought an exciting climax to the title race, and the top three battles on the Tagus River circuit were a major test of mettle and skill.

“That’s why we are playing, to have a chance to win the final game of the season, there are only a few points between us,” Al Mansoori said.

“It couldn’t have been closer, or more exciting, and I’m looking forward to it because I have a great team behind me and we’re ready for everything that day.”

Al Mansoori has secured a major title since joining the Abu Dhabi team last year, sharing the 2021 World Endurance Championship victory with his teammate in Portugal, Rashed Al Qemzi.

Engine problems at Ribaduro last Sunday ended the three-time F2 world champion’s podium finish this season, but Al Qemzi is still happy to have the chance to repeat him at Vila Velha de Ródão 12 months ago victory.

As Al Mansoori, Selio and Hagin battle for the title, they must also contend with a growing threat from Monaco driver Giacomo Sacchi, who took pole position and followed up with an impressive victory in last weekend’s Grand Prix, rose to fourth place. ranking.

If Al Mansoori wins the F2 title through testing, it will be Guido Cappellini’s 15th world title since he took over as Abu Dhabi team manager in February 2015.

The boats were launched on Saturday at 11.15am local time for free practice, with three stages of qualifying starting at 3pm. The Vila Velha de Ródão Grand Prix starts at 3.45pm on Sunday.
