Finally, Albuquerque’s one-stop entertainment venue, Revel, will add its concert hall — a project that’s been in the works since 2020.
According to Daniel Chavez, founder and owner of Revel ABQ, Revel’s food court and bar are designed around the concert hall, which is set to open in summer 2020, just a few months after it first opened.
“It’s Revel’s crown jewel,” Chavez said. “…it’s always built around concert halls.”
The concert hall is also located at 4720 Alexander NE in Revel.
The COVID-19 pandemic shut down Revel just 17 days after opening, delaying construction of the concert hall until this year.
The concert hall will open in October with a performance by country band Midland. The October 28 concert was sold out, but Midland added a second show in the concert hall the day before. Tickets for the October 27 performance are still available.
Chavez has worked in entertainment since 1985 when he opened production company NRG Staging in Albuquerque. Over the past few decades, he has noticed a lack of medium-sized venues for artists in Albuquerque.
“In this industry, I see a lot of friends who come over on a trip and have to drive over because there’s nowhere to host them,” Chavez said.
He sketched the concept of Revel out “on a napkin” when he saw an old sports bureau building available. “From a fan’s perspective, from an artist’s perspective, from a manager’s perspective, it’s a good position,” Chavez said.
Revel will be hosting a recruitment event this Saturday from 9am to 4pm to hire for the new concert hall. They plan to employ more than 100 people, including bartenders, servers, security and more.
Plans to expand Revel to other states have been put on hold, but the ultimate goal is to expand nationwide, Chavez said.
