UAE top destination for expats to relocate: survey

According to Cigna’s 2022 annual flagship 360° Global Wellbeing Survey, the UAE has become the No. 1 destination in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and one of the top 10 global destinations for expat resettlement in 197 countries. Health Services Company.

The survey revealed that 4% of global expats want to move to the UAE, with the Middle Eastern country the only country in the region to appear on this list.

Now in its eighth edition, Cigna’s annual global survey shows that expats moving to the UAE are staying in the country longer than expats moving to any other country in the world. The average length of stay of expats in the UAE (4.4 years) is significantly higher than the global average (3.2 years) – a reflection of the country’s better quality of life, financial situation and a more stable job market. UAE residents are also more concerned about their health and well-being in the wake of the pandemic, with improved scores on all health indices.

The country’s overall well-being grew by 2.1, the highest of any country in the world.

This is due to gradual policy changes, new visa regulations and increased confidence among residents in the country’s economic growth over the past two years.

The results of the 2022 Cigna 360° Global Wellbeing Survey were presented at a media roundtable in Dubai in the presence of Jerome Doesch, CEO of Cigna International Markets for Domestic Health and Health Services.

“Cigna has been continuously investing in the health and well-being of the people of the UAE. Like our surveys over the years, our eighth annual 360° Global Wellbeing Survey has revealed interesting insights into people’s wellbeing – the UAE ranks among the best in the world ,” said Jerome Droesch, CEO of Domestic Health and Wellness Services, Cigna International Markets.

As more employees evaluate their career goals, the survey also presents key indicators of competition for talent. “The health and well-being of employees has become a top priority, and employers need to step up to create an environment where employees feel more cared for, supported, and able to grow both personally and professionally,” Droesch said.

Cigna’s survey revealed opportunities for organizations to use to build awareness, drive change in this direction, and improve their status as attractive workplaces,” added Droesch.

Key findings from Cigna’s 2022 360° Global Wellbeing Survey are as follows:

The UAE’s overall happiness index is well above the global average: the UAE’s happiness index score of 68.2 is well above the global average of 62.9, followed by the US, UK, China, Spain and Australia. Compared to 2021, the UAE’s index increased by 2.1, while the global growth was only 0.7. Physical fitness: UAE – 65.3, Global – 59.9. Social Welfare: UAE – 67.1, Global – 62.9. Family happiness: UAE – 73.1, Global – 67.1[EY1], Financial status: UAE – 59.8, Global – 56 Well-being at work: UAE – 71.7, Global – 69.5. Residents prioritize high-quality family time: In the UAE, 56.4% of residents say they enjoy high-quality family time, compared to the global average of 45.5[EY2] %. Close family ties remain important to Emiratis. A growing number of options are enabling people in the UAE to re-evaluate their way of life and workplace.

UAE employees lead the world in workplace mobility: economic growth, flexible visa rules and increased opportunities for employees have resulted in more employees in the UAE changing jobs (40%) in the past 12 months than in the past 12 Monthly global average (24%).

Additionally, 55% said they would like to change jobs in the next 12 months, compared to 36% globally 53.2% of residents would also be happy to accept a lower-paying job if it means they have time to do other things , rather than reaching 42% globally.
