MONTEVIDEA – Federal National Assembly (FNC) Speaker Saqr Ghobash and Uruguay Oriental Republic Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries Fernando Matos Costa discussed the prospects for cooperation in various fields.
Saqr Ghobash leads a parliamentary delegation on an official visit to Latin America from 12 to 22 September 2022. The 10-day visit includes Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay and Colombia.
The mission aims to foster strategic partnerships and keep up with the evolving relationship between the UAE and these countries.
Minister Fernando Matos Costa led the FNC delegation to visit the Prado Expo, the largest agricultural fair in Uruguay, and briefed them on the prospects of agricultural cooperation between the two countries. Costa spoke about investment opportunities in agriculture for both countries.
Ghobash affirmed the UAE’s strong desire to strengthen cooperation in various areas of mutual interest, and discussed ways to develop cooperation in all areas, elevate it to a broader perspective, and develop them for the benefit of friendly countries and peoples of the two countries and wishes.
He said the UAE is highly concerned with food security issues, noting real and promising opportunities for cooperation between the two countries that can be invested in, especially in the areas of renewable energy and food security. He also noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has proven to the world the importance of food and medicine, “We believe that your country is a major source of food and that we can work together to benefit both countries and the world at large”.
