Prince Harry told five minutes before world news broke

[ad_1]

New details have emerged about how the royals found out about the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Telegraph revealed that Prince Charles called his eldest son, Prince William, before telling his siblings Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew.

The newspaper’s deputy editor and royal commentator, Camilla Tominey, told TODAY that even the new British Prime Minister, Liz Truss, had been spotted before William’s younger brother, Prince Harry.

“It’s a complicated family, a complicated situation,” Tomini told TODAY.

What happened that day happened quickly, Tomini said, with the Queen’s health rapidly deteriorating in the hours following her meeting with Truss.

“People had to scramble to get to Scotland – Charles called Prince William and their siblings spoke up. I think he called William first, constitutionally he was next in command.”

She said Prince Harry had to arrange his own travel, find his own flight, and he was in the air when she died.

“Or at least he was told five minutes ago when they were about to announce,” she said.

“People might think it’s weird at a family level because Liz Truss was told earlier, it seems, when the House of Commons handed the note to her.”

“Communication has been interrupted.”
