Admire Korean traditional painting styles by young Korean artists at Abu Dhabi exhibition

This Promising painter Korean traditional painting exhibition Organized by the UAE Korean Cultural Center (Director Nam Chan-woo) and Korea National University of Cultural Heritage (Provost, University Headquarters Jung Youg-Jae) in collaboration with Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi.

To promote cultural exchanges between Korea and the UAE, the exhibition will showcase artworks reinterpreted by young artists to represent elements of traditional Korean and Arab cultures.

According to the Korea National University of Cultural Heritage, most of the artworks brought to Abu Dhabi were painted for exhibitions. The artists tried to incorporate some elements of Arabic culture into the paintings, so that the audience in the UAE could easily get in touch with some familiar Korean traditional art.

Thirty young and promising students from Korea National University of Cultural Heritage and Professor Kwon Ji Eun prepared artworks to be displayed at the exhibition.

Works include paintings Danqing, traditional painting style seen on wooden buildings such as temples, palaces, murals and handicrafts in Korea. Over the centuries, this art has been used in architecture, painting, sculpture and various crafts. The style features typical patterns and bright colors to accentuate the design.

According to a press release announcing the opening, Nam Chan-woo, director of the Korea Cultural Center, said, “I am delighted to present the works of promising young Korean artists from the Korea National University of Cultural Heritage at Abu Dhabi Sorbonne University. I think this exhibition is more The significance is not only to introduce various traditional Korean paintings to Abu Dhabi, but also to provide opportunities for students from both countries to communicate with each other.”

Opening day on September 21st will be from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. From 22 September, visitors can view the artworks in the atrium of the Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi campus between 2pm-6pm Monday to Thursday and 10am-12pm Friday .

You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and have a negative PCR test (green pass) within 14 days to participate in the event, or unvaccinated individuals can now receive a negative PCR test within 48 hours to enter.
