It may have been set for a while, but highly touted Flyweight Mohammad Mokayev officially confirmed as UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi.
The Dagestan-born undefeated rookie represents Great Britain against Canada’s Malcolm Gordon at the Etihad Arena on October 22.One of the most anticipated cards of the year, this card features two world title fights titled The conflict between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev For the vacant lightweight crown.
Mokayev, 22, has a 7-0 career record. 2-0 in UFC Since its debut in publicity in March. Most recently, in July, he defeated veteran Charles Johnson by unanimous decision at the O2 Arena in London.
Mokayev 12-year-old who arrived in the UK as a refugeeremains undefeated as an amateur, amassing a 23-0 record.
Gordon, meanwhile, is 14-5 as a professional player and is on a two-game winning streak. He made his UFC debut at the inaugural Fight Island fight in Abu Dhabi in July 2020 and has competed in qualifying fights four times.
The 32-year-old Gordon’s first fight came in February, when he defeated Dennis Bondar in the first round of TKO.
UFC 280 is part of Showdown Week in Abu Dhabi from October 17-23.In addition to the double title fight – Bantamweight title Aljamain Sterling vs. former belt holder TJ Dillashaw – The card contains several other marquee matchups, including Bantamweight bout between former champion Peter Yan and the talented Sean O’Malley.
