ABU DHABI, 23rd September, 2022 (WAM) — Abdullah Majid Ali, Director of the National Archives and Libraries, introduced the UAE’s role to Preparations for hosting the ICA Abu Dhabi Congress 2023.
The theme for the 2022 edition sees archives as a means of bridging horizontal and multi-level gaps. ICARoma2022 features over 200 speakers presenting papers, panel discussions, workshops, lightning talks and posters.
The ICA Abu Dhabi Congress will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in October.
Al Ali told attendees that ICA Abu Dhabi 2023 will discuss several topics of interest such as artificial intelligence, digital preservation, managing metadata, blockchain, cybersecurity and information governance, among others.
Organisers said the International Council on Archives Abu Dhabi Congress, with the theme “Empowering Knowledge Societies”, is committed to the effective management of records and the preservation of the world’s archival heritage. Congress is enacting effective records and records management, as it is a fundamental prerequisite for good governance, the rule of law, administrative transparency, preservation of the collective human memory, and citizen access to information.
The ICA Congress provides an opportunity for professionals and colleagues from around the world to share innovative ideas and research. The information challenges of the 21st century enable archival and records professionals to keep data safe and efficiently organized to build networks to enhance the knowledge society of the future.
