A family of doctors stranded in India was surprised that the UAE authorities gave priority to medical staff returning to the country.

Dr. Haritha Potu, Child Health Doctor of Dr. Ismail Medical Group, her husband, Tech Mahindra Country Director and General Manager Sri Ni Reddy, and their son are the only passengers on the 180-seat Arab Airlines flight . The day the flight resumed was announced.

Starting their journey from India on August 5, the couple and their son returned to the UAE on August 3. Although they are not long-term golden visa holders.

Dr. Haritha traveled to India with her husband and children on April 18 to attend the father’s final ceremony. After the UAE suspended flights on April 24, the family stayed in India for more than three months.

After reading Khaleej Times’ report on healthcare groups chartering flights for their doctors and nurses, Reddy tried a variety of options to return to the UAE.

“We asked Arab Airlines officials to help us return to our second home,” Reddy said. “Arab Airlines told us that the UAE needs a doctor and is responsible for our travel from Hyderabad.”

According to Reddy, the airline arranged the return permit and obtained the required approval from the government; they were approved on July 31.

Due to the uncertainty of flight resumption, the family arrived in the UAE on August 3 after booking and canceling their tickets six times. Their youngest son, Sanjith Reddy, a student of GEMS Modern Academy, also traveled with them.

The couple has been vaccinated with two doses of Pfizer vaccine, which is a necessary condition for returning to the UAE.
