Allen leaves Everton for UAE

Allen left Everton today to join United Arab Emirates Pro League club Al Wahda.

The Brazilian has left Goodison Park on a permanent deal after signing a two-year deal with his new club.

Carlo Ancelotti signed Alan for £20m in the summer of 2020 as part of the Blues’ midfield overhaul, with Abdoulaye Doucure and James Rodriguez also coming to the Blues midfield.

He enjoyed a productive first season at the club and was considered a key part of the squad in his first two seasons at the club, a fact that was hampered by injuries in both seasons and the suspension and absences were highlighted.

However, since Everton brought in the likes of Amadou Onana, Idrissa Gueye and James Garner last summer, his years of progress – he turns 31 in January – have been lacking. Speed and dynamism, and his injury record has dropped him down the rankings.

The former Napoli player wanted to play regular football rather than the bench and opted for a move to the UAE.

It is unclear what the terms of the transfer will be, but it is speculated that Al Wahda has agreed to buy out the remainder of his contract at Everton, which is worth around £4m based on his estimated salary.

Let’s face it, we got him too late. I can see what Ancelotti does by bringing in these three at the last minute, and we’ve had a very good start to the season. Take the right action at the right time for everyone involved.

I want to know how our finances are going after this window. It feels like we could actually make money this year after getting rid of a lot of deadwood and loaning players out. Wages have definitely been reduced, Richarlison is clearly cash and most of our signings are in installments. How do we find out?

I like this guy because he brings a “face to face” attitude to Everton. Leadership on the field. face the referee. Like all other teams, what we never did but are doing now. It’s not his fault that he lost his rhythm, it’s just a fact of life.

Do you really think Ellen is worth the money for us? £20m + £100k weekly reports, so £30m for 2 seasons and then he leaves for free?

Season 1 was good, no doubt; Season 2 wasn’t great but not bad

Good guy Ellen, looks good but worth the money? No chance (but like saying Walcott was valuable when he did well for the first 18 months but never really achieved much and then was free to leave as well. I would also suggest that Tosan is garbage value despite his low contribution Yu Allen)

Full marks to Gomez and Allen, not just because their contracts are up. I would have liked to have Alan as a cover for the DM, but the bonus points could be a fair wedge to the payroll.
