“Saturday 8 October 2022, 12 December 1444, Rabi Al-Awwal will provide paid leave to the private sector on the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),” the ministry said in the post.
Since the date is Saturday, those of us who normally enjoy a two-day weekend on Saturday and Sunday don’t get the extra day off.
So when is the next public holiday?
We still have a few months to wait as the UAE’s next and last public holiday of the year is in December.
Remembrance Day (formerly known as Martyr’s Day) falls on Thursday, December 1st each year. This is followed by the UAE’s National Day celebrations on December 2-3, Friday and Saturday. That means those off Saturday and Sunday will enjoy a four-day weekend.
However, those dates are yet to be confirmed, and we can only be sure when the official announcement will be made. We will let you know when the holiday confirmation is close to the date.
