Some Indians have now been granted golden visas to the United Arab Emirates for long-term residency. Also, Kerala politician Dr MK Muneer is the latest to receive the prestigious golden visa.
This is the first time a Kerala politician has been granted a golden visa. MK Muneer is known to be one of the progressive faces of Muslim politics in Kerala, and he is the senior leader of the Indian Union Muslim Union (IUML).
Muneer, physician-turned-politician, is also a well-known publisher, social entrepreneur, cartoonist, painter and singer.
The 60-year-old thanked the state for the “honor and privilege” he had been given.
“It is an honor to receive the UAE Golden Visa. The UAE is a role model for the rest of the world to reach new heights and create milestones. The hospitality and care that Emirates demonstrates to residents and visitors is amazing and unparalleled,” Munir wrote in his article road Facebook postal.
“I will continue to do everything I can to strengthen the relationship between our two great nations and to enrich each other through our social, cultural and economic ties,” he added.
Established by the UAE government in 2019, the Golden Visa allows foreigners to live, work and study in the UAE without a state sponsor and with 100% ownership of their business in mainland UAE.
Visas are valid for 5 or 10 years and are automatically renewed.
Earlier this month, the golden visa rules were streamlined and revised to benefit more people. The new rules will take effect on October 3.
