Raleigh, NC (WTVD) — Hurricane Ian continues to strengthen in the Atlantic and is expected to hit parts of Florida and central North Carolina later this week. Rain could be expected from Ian in the Triangle as early as Thursday night and Friday.
Event planners, area schools and universities are already making decisions to ensure the safety of personnel, players and staff.
Some are moving or postponing events. Some people haven’t made up their minds yet.
This is the ABC11 list based on the information we have received so far. We will continue to update it as organizers share their decisions on the status of scheduled events.
high school football – Most of the games will be played on Thursday this week.
IBMA Bluegrass – Friday/Saturday event moved inside
According to organizers, IBMA Bluegrass Live! will move all the music and events planned for Friday and Saturday inside. The performance, which was supposed to take place on five different stages on Fayetteville Street, will now take place at the Raleigh Convention Center. All 115 suppliers scheduled to set up and participate in the event will be set inside The same goes for the convention center.
Carrboro-Music-Festival – The event took place on Sunday as scheduled.
Hurricane Lightning – Thursday’s game postponed
ECU, SOUTH FLORIDA – Saturday’s game moved from Tampa to Boca Raton, Florida.
As of Tuesday, these college football games are scheduled to play on the dates they set:
NC State, Clemson — Plays Saturday in South Carolina.
Virginia Tech at UNC – Game scheduled for Saturday at Chapel Hill
Virginia at Duke – Game still scheduled for Saturday in Durham
Campbell’s NC Central game is still scheduled for Saturday at Buies Creek.
