New Delhi [India]Sept. 29 (ANI): Anupriya Patel, Minister of Commerce and Industry, said that constructive cooperation, trust and transparency are essential to tap the trade potential of SCO member states.

Anupriya Patel made the remarks on Wednesday during a virtual intervention at the 21st meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) ministers responsible for foreign economy and foreign trade.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Commerce, the minister mentioned the opportunities for the SCO region to bring mutually beneficial, balanced and equitable benefits to all SCO members. She stressed the need for effective cooperation among SCO member states to achieve balanced and equitable growth in trade and commerce.

She emphasized the importance of collective efforts to achieve balanced and equitable economic growth by making trade an engine of revitalized growth and a driver of economic recovery. She stressed that trust and transparency determine the sustainability of global trade and the fundamental principles and goals of maintaining the multilateral trading system. She stressed the need for efforts to increase access to affordable medicines, therapeutics, vaccines and healthcare at affordable prices to combat any epidemic, such as Covid-19, to protect the lives of the poorest, Livelihoods, food and nutrition security. In order to bring prosperity to humanity, MOS emphasizes the need to share best practices in technological development, optimal utilization of resources, protection of the environment, and sustainable allocation of resources, so that present and future generations have sufficient resources to live in a happy environment.

On the environment, MOS said the World Forum’s climate agenda should not be used to introduce measures that restrict trade and investment cooperation. She praised the SCO’s recent initiative, in which the city of Varanasi was nominated as the first SCO tourism and cultural capital for 2022-2023. She expressed the hope that this will help promote tourism and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and promote economic and trade cooperation.
