Kelly Osborn has been diagnosed with gestational diabetes.
The 37-year-old star was diagnosed with the condition when she entered her third trimester.
Kelly – whose symptoms include weight gain, fatigue and swollen ankles – said: “First of all, gestational diabetes is not your fault.
“At first I thought it was something I had done. I was only diagnosed with the disease in the third trimester, so it wasn’t like I developed it because some people are pregnant from the start.
“I got it in the third trimester, and basically, I thought it was something I did wrong.”
Gestational diabetes is high blood sugar that occurs during pregnancy.
Kelly recently cut back on sugar and started paying attention to her carb intake.
The singer – who is expecting her first child with Slipknot’s Sid Wilson – explained to PEOPLE: “Throughout my pregnancy, I didn’t have any cravings for anything but sugar, which I’ve never had before. .
“The first thing I realized was the sugary drink that put me off, it was juice. Because even if I was drinking freshly squeezed juice, it still had a lot more sugar than I needed.”
Kelly’s lifestyle changes have already had a noticeable impact on her health.
She said: “Overall, my skin has improved. I don’t need makeup.
“My friends haven’t seen me since I started my third trimester, and now they see me and they’re like, ‘Wow. What’s changed? Your skin is perfect,’ I know sometimes It’s pregnancy related, but I have pregnancy acne. I cut the sugar out and it’s gone completely. I think more clearly.”
