Every passing lady has the opportunity to pick her gift from a special box containing multiple prizes
A shopping mall on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi has launched a ‘You Are Hero’ campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Bawabat Al Sharq Mall in Bani Yas will honor women battling the disease by portraying them as real-life superheroes.
Through several live events, the campaign called on community members, especially women, to express solidarity with breast cancer patients while urging them to get tested regularly.
As part of the campaign, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) will set up a promotional booth where individuals will receive information on breast cancer, prevention methods and other topics. They can screen for free at one of Seha’s medical centers. In addition, the mall offers each passing lady the opportunity to pick a gift from a special box containing prizes such as gift certificates and other gifts.
Among other events, workshops will be held to emphasize the importance of early screening. Doctors will provide attendees with one-on-one sessions and talk about the role early screening and testing can play in saving patients’ lives. The workshop will host breast cancer survivors who will share their recovery journey with the public.
Adding to the artistic flair, there will be a henna booth where women can draw their own ribbons to support the cause. A kid’s corner with activities, including painting their faces pink.
Female visitors are encouraged to spread breast cancer awareness in their own circles, take pictures in the mall’s event area and share them on social media for more surprises.
The event will be in-store and online on October 9th from 2-10pm.
