Passengers who arrive in the UAE or plan to travel before August 10th have a higher amount.
As UAE residents stranded in these two countries returned directly to the UAE, the price of air tickets from India and Pakistan soared exponentially.
The travel agency said that since the announcement, fares on all available routes from India and Pakistan to the UAE have increased by at least 50%.
A direct one-way economy class ticket from Kochi, Kerala to Dubai, UAE is usually priced from 700 to 850 dirhams, and is now priced from 1,050 to 1100 dirhams.
Similarly, economy class tickets from Mumbai, India to Dubai, UAE cost as much as AED 1,300.
These are tentative tickets for the week beginning August 12th and beyond. However, the amount is higher for passengers who arrive in the UAE or plan to travel before August 10.
“I want to take the flight from Mumbai on August 9th and I paid AED 6,500 for this,” said Shruti K., a Dubai resident who has been trapped in her hometown in India since her last visit in April.
Similarly, air tickets from various cities in Pakistan are also sold at very high prices.
The price of a direct economy class ticket from Islamabad to Dubai is AED 2,300 and above. The same ticket in November of this year was about Dh800-a difference of more than 180%.
An economy class ticket from Karachi to Dubai usually costs 600-650 dirhams. One way, it is now priced at 1200 dirhams and above, which is almost twice the price.
The sharp rise in prices shows that there is a high demand for passengers on these routes connecting cities in India and Pakistan and the UAE.
