COVID-19: In Abu Dhabi’s hotels, entertainment and tourism venues, no masks but must go through green lanes

Abu Dhabi: Face masks are no longer mandatory in cultural venues, tourist attractions, hotels and entertainment areas in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, according to a notice issued by the emirate’s cultural sector regulator.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi) has issued a notice following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions across the country from September 28, as announced by the National Emergencies, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) on Monday. . “Masks are now optional indoors and outdoors – but mandatory for food handlers, suspected and positive cases, and [they are still] Recommended for chronically ill patients and the elderly,” the DCT Abu Dhabi circular states.

Enter Green Pass

Visitors will still need to show a green pass on the Alhosn app to enter the locations.

“Green passes will apply to events and event organizers can take extra precautions if needed,” the authority said.

After a negative PCR test result, the Green Pass will be valid for 30 days for fully vaccinated and boosted individuals and 7 days for unvaccinated individuals.

DCT Abu Dhabi also reminds businesses that legal action may be taken if the prescribed precautions are not followed.

“We expect you to comply with the above in order to avoid legal measures against offenders under current legislation,” DCT Abu Dhabi said in its notice to tourism and cultural institutions.

Most establishments will likely still continue to conduct temperature checks at entry points across the emirate.
