A rapid PCR test facility was set up at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to meet the needs of passengers, especially those travelling to the UAE, which necessitated the provision of test reports when entering the country.
The UAE lifted restrictions on passenger transit from the subcontinent and resumed flights from cities such as New Delhi, Chennai, Kochi, Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram. Due to high demand, airlines are expected to increase flights between India and the UAE.
Although the flight has resumed, passengers still need to undergo rapid PCR testing before boarding. The Genstring Diagnostic Center is currently set up at IGI Airport for all Covid-related tests. It was announced on Sunday that it will provide passengers with facilities for rapid PCR testing.
“According to the latest travel guide issued by the UAE, the Genestrings Diagnostic Center today set up a rapid PCR test facility at Indira Gandhi International Airport. The test facility will have about 50 rapid PCR machines based on ID NOW technology, and as demand increases, We are considering doubling this capacity. Each test costs 5,000 rupees and can be reported within 45-60 minutes,” said Dr. Gauri Agarwal, founder and director of Genestrings Diagnostic Center.
As airlines based in India and the UAE have begun booking passengers, Genstring Diagnostic stated that IGI’s rapid PCR testing facilities will benefit passengers who have been stranded in India for a long time due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Passengers of Indigo, Vistara, Air India, Emirates, Etihad Airways, flydubai and other airlines will benefit from the opening of this sector. This will help the more than 400,000 passengers stranded here due to the lockdown,” Genestrings Said the founder of Ddiagnostic Center.
