Mumbai: Famous Indian industrialist and filmmaker Atlas Ramachandran has died. He died in Dubai on Sunday at the age of 80. His real name is M. M is Ramachandran. Ramachandran was admitted to hospital on Saturday with chest pains. He took his last breath there because of a heart attack. He was sick for several days. Ramachandran was the founder of the now defunct Talas Jewellery. He has lived in Dubai for a long time. In August, he celebrated his 80th birthday at the Burr residence in Dubai. Ramachandran likes to watch movies. He has produced many Malayalam films and acted and directed 13 films. Ramachandran was born in Trisur district of Kerala in 1942. His unique advertising style for the Atlas jewellery business earned him the name Atlas Ramachandran. About three years ago, Ramachandran founded Atlas Jewellery. It has around 50 branches in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. They also have branches in Kerala. Atlas Group is also involved in healthcare, real estate and film. Ramachandran was arrested in Dubai in 2015 on charges of financial fraud. He was imprisoned for three years. He is survived by his wife, Indira, and two children, Dr. There is a family called Manju and Srikanth.
