Emirates News Agency – Abu Dhabi Municipality urges freight operators to register on ‘Asateel’ platform

ABU DHABI, 4th October, 2022 (WAM) — The Department of Municipal and Transport (DMT) Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of Abu Dhabi has announced the granting of a six-month grace period to trucking companies for freight transport under the Emirate of Abu Dhabi The provisions of the regulations and the purpose of requiring adjustment of their status will expire on October 5, 2022.

The ITC reiterates that freight companies must register on the “Asateel” platform at the following link https://asateel.itc.gov.ae, which outlines the necessary procedures and contains a detailed list of all freight services. Overland routes according to regulations currently enacted in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The ITC urges all companies involved in any freight activity to comply with all requirements as set out in the regulations and to apply for a license to practice through the “Asateel” platform. Licensed entities as well as individuals and owners of freight vehicles must obtain ITC’s vehicle operating license and their driver’s professional license through the “Asateel” platform.

Companies or entities are prohibited from engaging in freight forwarding activities without obtaining prior permission from ITC and meeting all necessary legal conditions and requirements related to engaging in that activity, including a business license from the Department of Economic Development.

The ITC also noted that it will work with relevant strategic stakeholders to adopt a zero-tolerance policy for breaches of the terms, conditions and requirements set out in the regulations, as set out in the regulations, which will take effect from 6 October 2022.

The provisions of the Freight Regulations apply to all vehicles transporting heavy and light goods and set out the requirements for regulating freight activities and the responsibilities of entities operating in the sector. In addition, the requirements, procedures and safety conditions for the transportation of goods and vehicles in vehicles are also specified in detail. In addition, it provides for violations and fines for non-compliance with the regulations.
