Rage Against The Machine Shelving 2023 North American Date | Entertainment

Rage Against The Machine has shelved a 2023 North American tour date.

The ‘Killing in the Name’ rock group was forced to cancel their UK and European shows this summer, including August’s world-famous show, after frontman Zack de la Rocha tore his left Achilles tendon. Reading Festival and Leeds Festival.

Having to quit the show next year is painful for the rocker, but he has no choice because it will take “a lot of work and rehab” to consider taking the stage again.

A lengthy statement began: “It’s been almost three months since Chicago and I’m still looking down at my legs in disbelief. After two years of waiting in the middle of a pandemic, hopefully we’ll get a chance to be a band again and continue What we started more than 30 years ago. Rehearsing, training, tempering, getting back to form our way. Then one and a half showed and I tore my tendon.

“It feels like a sick joke from the universe on me. As I write this, I remind myself that this is just a bad situation. Right now. Unfortunately, this is a time that requires a lot of work and recovery. My left Achilles tendon was severely torn and only 8% of the tendon was intact. Even that part was severely damaged.”

The statement added: “It’s not just a matter of being able to perform again, it’s an essential function that extends into the future. That’s why I’ve made the painful and difficult decision to cancel the remainder of our 2023 North American show.”

The Public Service Announcement tour was originally scheduled to come to Portland on March 23rd.

Zach, 52, was injured while performing “Bullet In The Head” in Chicago in July.
