Imports €1 billion worth of ‘Made in Italy’ jewellery to the UAE every year

DUBAI, UAE: Earlier today, Italy opened its exclusive Italian Lounge at the 50th Middle East Watch and Jewellery Show in Sharjah. According to the data, Italian jewellery is a favourite among UAE customers, with nearly €1 billion worth of Italian valuables imported into the UAE in 2021 (108% increase compared to 2020; 10% increase compared to 2019). With 47 companies participating, the number of Italians attending the fair has reached its highest level since the fair was launched in 1993.

Organised by the Italian Trade Agency and CNA (Confederation of Italian Craft Traders and Small and Medium Enterprises), in cooperation with the Italian Embassy in the UAE and the Consulate General in Dubai, the lounge complements the Italian Pavilion in Hall 4 of the Sharjah Expo Centre.

The Italian Lounge provides a comfortable and discreet environment for the fair’s visitors to try out the precious pieces displayed at the fair. Guests can also relax in the lounge area with an Italian coffee and admire some of the most extraordinary pieces of Italian jewelry on display.

The 47 Italian companies participating in the Middle East Watch & Jewellery Show will showcase their latest collections, ranging from ultra-luxury exclusive fine jewellery adorned with very precious gemstones to simpler jewellery for everyday wear. Italian producers known for their artisanal craftsmanship and unique designs are looking for a strong market in the UAE.
